Default NMD: a week and a half ago

Picked this one up two Saturdays ago, yea slow to post.

    Rover RM-75

I had many times heard the praises of these and that they were made by Saga music company, the same company that makes Kentucky. I had also heard they were comparable to the KM-675.

When I got it, it was in "storage" shape. Very dusty, fingerprints, fret board very dry, bridge dry and had never been properly fitted to the top, strings rusty, etc.

Some time investment, some cleaning and some new J74's and it plays very nice. Got it on the cheap so I'm very pleased. A member here saw my wanted post for a tone guard and helped me acquire one they didn't use.

Over all very happy with this one. Sorry about the picture, took it with my tablet.

A little bit of work with a dab of care generally makes a big difference. Enjoy. R/

I love my Rover RM-50B. Rovers can be a great value with a little time and patience invested in them. Yours looks very nice.

+1 on Rovers here, too. I have a sunburst RM-50, and although it doesn't get much use since I got my Eastman 305, it served me faithfully before as my old no1. I've heard good things about the RM-70 too, and, as with any instrument, the lower the price, the better it gets.

Was the rm-75 originally not scooped? I didn't do that and assume the previous owner didn't. I had the rest as an extra.....gotta be careful with extras, leads to mandolin purchases...

One thing I've learned about mandolins is that they all respond differently to different picks so if you buy it and you don't like the tone, try a different pick.
    Same goes for strings.

Haha, never mind... They are scooped! I was thinking that the ordinal ones were not, but now I am not sure. The last few versions have been scooped.

Maybe they all were then... I may still have pics of the very first run of them.
