    Default Grover Tuner Question:

Hey all, Ken put some really nice tuners on my new Silverangel, he thinks they may be Shallers, but looking around a little online, they look to me to be Grover Deluxe tuners. The Shallers have an "S" on the bottom of each of the gears, these have screw heads:

I'd like to put black Tuner buttons on them and I've found a supplier of the 3080B buttons, but the seller is unsure if they will fit on the Grover Deluxe tuners (if that is what these are) as they are made for the 309's

Firstly am I correct that these are the Grover Deluxe Tuners?... And can anyone speak to whether these buttons will work on these tuners?

    Many Thanks!

Those do look like the older Grover 308 model tuning machines. The 308s did have a black button that you could swap out.

Here's a thread that shows the 308 and 309 tuning machines:

I do not think the tuner buttons are interchangeable due to different shape worm shaft ends

The old Schaller's didn't have the S. The old Schaller's had slot head screws holding the cog. Schaller's don't have buttons that were held on with a screw. Grover, to my knowledge is the only tuner manufacturer that uses and inset screw to hold the buttons on.

Pull a button and see what size and shape the shaft is. It probably has two flats.

I just thought this through. There are some mandolin tuners like that being sold on eBay that aren't Grover's. They look like older Grover's but I'm not real sure.

This guy is selling F style tuners like these and calling them Grover's.

These are Schaller old style tuners.

They do look like the Grover's listed by colorado_al.

I decided to give the buttons a try. If they don't work, I'll send them back.
