Don't miss this one. This was a chance to dig through the archives to find a picture of Jake and Alex Hargreaves playing at the 2005 Mandofest, an all-mandolin concert weekend I put on for years. Ken Carthwright called me up and said, "hey, I want to come to Mandofest, and by the way, there are these two kids up here that are really good and should be on the bill." Privately I'm pretty sure I was rolling my eyes. Doesn't everyone know "some pretty good kids?" I tell Ken, "dude, there's no way this event has the money to fly people from that far and pay them," and that was true. It was a shoestring budget. They show up and play for free and, well, he was right. Now two of the finest on the acoustic music scene.
