    Default Pick-up/Mic combo?

I've been discussing this with a friend who is a great Guitarist and Mandolin Player. He has an awesome Collings F5 that sounds awesome and looks stunning and is trying to find the best means to "plug it in."

I've had good results with my JJB Marcado dual Piezo/Carpenter Jack pickup on my Eastman and my new Silverangel A has a K&K Mandolin Twin internally installed. But I believe he is quite the tonal purist and really wants a Mic and Pickup combination. In his words:

"I wish I could get a pickup and mic together... I know I can run two, but I want to be able to mute them to tune. ... L R Baggs makes a “dual source” guitar system that allows a pickup and mic to be plugged in and controlled with independent volumes and a single 1/4 inch output. I want something like that, but for Mandolin, of course."

Anyone have any recommendations for running a Mic/Pickup Combo with a single output?

How about the pickup into the DI/tuner and a mic on stand? Step away from the mic and click on the tuner mute for tuning.

Bingo. The simplest solution is usually the best solution.

AKG makes a blender , belt clip/power supply for condenser mic & pickup..
also from them of course.. C411 is the pickup..

Neutrik makes a ring switch end , for mic cables ...

that would be your common output of blended signals. to the mains..
