Thread: 90s or earlier Hohner mandolin ID?

Default 90s or earlier Hohner mandolin ID?

This Hohner mandolin, which I bought used in 1999 or 2000, has proven to be a good instrument, as good as other sub-$1K mandos I've played since then. Quality wood and construction, nice loud tone with a lot of pop.

I've been unable to find specifics about this model, which seems different than the mandolins that Hohner has marketed within the last several years. No mandolins are on the current Hohner website.

Anyone have any informed commentary or experience with this mandolin model? Thanks.

Can't say much about it, but I am betting it to be late 1970s-early 80s Japan build, as the 12-fret neck is similar to the earliest Kentucky A-models.

Yes, I figured it was Japanese. Thanks, fernmando.
