Default Beaumont, Frank Pupo, guitar builder, are they of good quality?

I am being offered a trade for my Kentucky KM-1000 Master Model Mandolin. It is a Beaumont Guitar (Dreadnaught/Martin Style) made by Frank Pupo. Anyone heard of this builder, know about the quality of his work and sound of his guitars?? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Good trade?

From what little I've been able to find, he has built at least 10 guitars. He advertised a maple and spruce Gibson inspired dreadnought on Reverb last year for $1400. He finished that one in nitrocellulose lacquer. His listing didn't give any information about his history. He lives in Beaumont, CA. If you want to find out more about him, you can probably email him through Reverb.

If you google "Frank Pupo guitar" you will find just a few references to him.

Frank's a longtime member of the UMGF and a hobby guitar builder. By that I mean he learned to build for his own enjoyment rather than as a business venture. I've never played one of his guitars, but I've heard good things and based on photos the quality looks very good especially considering the prices I've seen of the handful that have been sold.

I am also being offered a Gibson J-35 as a trade, good trade, good guitar? It is a 2016.

The Gibson would probably be much easier to sell down the road if need be, but having a small shop luthier-made instrument is pretty cool. If you think you might need to resell I'd get the Gibson, otherwise the Beaumont sounds pretty interesting. Any pictures of it?

I can’t figure out how to attach a picture. Doesn’t seem to be working for me, the secret?

Does sound good and is easy to play? If the answer is yes to both questions, then make the trade.

For which guitar do you think?

Aesthetically I like the Beaumont better, but I can't judge the sound/playability which is what matters most.

Did you ever trade for the Beaumont guitar made by Frank Pupo? I'm looking to buy one of his guitars.

SusieQ--Sadly, Frank passed away just before Christmas of last year. Used Beaumonts do pop up on the UMGF and/or AGF from time-to-time.
