    Default For posterity

Was checking out one of the Strad-O-Lin mandolins that's been on eBay for a bit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-ANTIQUE...96c5%7Ciid%3A1

Never noticed it before - the strings go over the clamshell tailpiece. Strange. Just strange. Even worse than the missing G gear.

I think that you don't see that sort of thing very often because it was strung by some oaf with no idea what he was doing. I can't see the base of the tailpipe well in the pics, but I think I could see a tiny bit of a slot for the strings to go under the clamshell, like any intelligent person would do it. It really does look like crap, doesn't it?

Seems to me a much easier way to string it up, those clamshell tailpieces are a pain to string. A piece of leather under the strings and it would work just fine.

You guys...whaddaya want for a $220 "Buy It Now?" If the seller knew more about mandolins, he/she'd be asking $350 for it.
