You should be able to Google the stainless screws for the cogs. You can also check on eBay. I bought some black slot head screws for the cogs on eBay a while back.

After posting of my lousy experience with the Golden Age tuners in this thread, I contacted another MT owner to see about some drop-in replacements. I then contacted Collings to see what they recommend as a replacement for the Golden Ages. A nice email conversion then took place between me and Collings, and now a set of Gotohs are on their way to me from Collings free of charge. Just wanted to publicly acknowledge the great customer service. I’ll report back when I get the Gotohs installed.

Give them a good dose of lubeing before you put them on - i.e. spin them with a drill if you can. I find the Gotohs on my Collings and National a bit tight and it should be easier freeing them up with them off the mandolin rather than on.

I came across two Rolex watches when I cleaned out my late uncles apartment. One was a 1946, one was a 1954. Neither looked any more special than a Timex. Really. But I got them both fixed up. The watch repair guy was excited, so much so that he took me to his bench and had me look at the clock works through his high powered microscope. OMG, what a machine.

So anyone wishing to buy Waverlys for no practical reason other than to enjoy the workmanship, I say go for it.

anyhow, reprise my story of getting a Used Mix A5, the accuracy of the hole spacing
left a lot to be desired.

Last owner, Forcing in Waverly, damaged the tuners,
but the 'Elites' from Stew Mac tolerated the spacing imprecision better..

I have two mandolins with Waverly tuners but two others with Rubner Deluxe at about half cost. I actually like the looks of the Rubner best and they function as smoothly as Waverly !

I got the new Gotohs installed and they are a night and day improvement over the subpar StewMac Golden Age tuners. Much thanks to Collings for such great service.

I must replace the Golden Age set on my MF5. Stew-Mac replaced them, but they're the same as the ones they replaced. Easily the worst tuners I've had on any mandolin.

Anyhow.. Elites were discontinued, by S-M, But as installed, they turn with resistance,

though, as a result , on the Carbon Mandolin, I only tune once. for hours,
sometimes out of the case its close enough.. , then I just join in .

As I understand it, the GA tuners replaced Elite, although I'm not sure why they bothered.

'Elite' = 'Golden Age'. Both names are oxymoronic.
