    Default "Gracie"

I have no idea why I call my mandolin "Gracie" other than perhaps a respectful homage to Gracie Allen (for you old timers).

"Come on Gracie, time to play" or "I may need to change your strings Gracie, your sounding a little horse lately".

Perhaps speaking with my instrument(s) borders a bit on the senile but alas, I'm a young 65 and these sorts of things I hear tell do occur as time progresses.

Now, that said, I've seen and heard more than one lady or gentleman swearing aloud at their golf clubs or a car battery but rarely do I hear someone besides myself, talking to my mandolin.

I'm gonna "WOW" them in the nursing home in another 20 years.

I truly hope I'm not the only one that speaks to their instruments.

I rarely talk to my mandolin. It's generally doing what it's supposed to do. I do however have to scream at my fingers now and again. They don't seem to be holding up their end of the deal.

I lovingly talk to my Isabella (Weber Yellowstone) and she will beautifully sing back to me. Until, like Mike my fingers refuse to cooperate.

I too look at my hands and wonder if I may be pushing them a bit too far at times.

    Hey George R. Lane!
Would you post some pics of your mandolin please?
The headstock in your avatar is truly interesting.

I too rarely speak to my mandolins, but I frequently tell my fingers to "get with it!" They need to remember where they are supposed to be! My mandolins 9 times out of 10 are usually doing their jobs, although yesterday one got a reminder that they are expected to stay in tune once I start playing (one went out of tune while I was playing.)

Thanks, Brett Byers did all the finish work for Bruce Weber. It was his idea to do the burst on the headstock, to match the body color. He was the best and he did a fantastic job.

    Outstanding George!!!
    I'v
e always been curious (and attracted to) the finish in the headstock featured in your avatar photo!
Looks like a really exceptional Weber. Plus I'm a sucker for quilted wood, two of my guitars and one of my mandolins feature it.

Thanks for posting those pics, truly.
