OK, you've got to do it to know. I thought I'd start with the top, since I think I'm leaving it blond. Sanded in full sun for several hours just so I could see every little mark. Got it perfect, laid a coat of sealer on it, and like magic, oh so faint but visible scratches in a couple of places. So in those spots it was to the bare wood and beyond.

Second sealer day went better. I'm using Seal-lac from LMI, and Royal Lac for top coats. Pretty happy so far. It wipes on very evenly after dabbing your cloth on a paper towel.

From the lingo Tom Ellis was using in a recent interview, I think the Pava's are going to be using this or something similar.

Doesn't sound like anything bad has happened yet... let us know when you get to the real "Oh, no" stage... ;-)

Ha, so reassuring. I have a ton of experience with nitro laquer, but want to do something different. I do have a developed sense of when sandpaper is about to go a step too far.
