Thread: New Case Day - Thanks Vernie!

Default New Case Day - Thanks Vernie!

I've really been loving my Pava, and wanted to get it a unique case to go with it. A few months back I asked Vernie at Bluegrass Mandolins if he happened to have a specific case available, and he didn't have any on the way. A couple of weeks ago he emailed me out of the blue because he happened to have one fall in his lap and he remembered my inquiry. Great guy.

So, we will start with the disclaimer. I have NFI in Bluegrass Mandolins, but I thought that sharing my experience working with Vernie would be a nice thing to do. I was pretty impressed with what came to me in the mail today.

Vernie was awesome to work with, super communicative, and was willing to put up with more emails than he had to

I made a few more Pava and Ellis decals, if anybody with a Pava or Ellis would like a window / case decal shoot me a PM. I only have about 3-4 in a 2 inch size, and maybe 4-5 in a 1 inch size, but would be happy to share.

They won't stick to a Calton without a ton of trickery, but will happily live on any fiberglass case or car window.

Again--thanks to Vernie for making my day today.

Congrats. on your new case - i love the warm colour. However, this puzzled me :- " They won't stick to a Calton without a ton of trickery, but will happily live on any fiberglass case..." Calton cases are fiberglass ??,

As for the stickers not sticking to fiberglass.... The Caltons are gel coated with an orange peel texture that is very very sticker unfriendly.

It requires a hot hair dryer, and a lot of patience, to hand form the decals to the orange peel texture and get them to stick.

So they are super compatible with any smooth finish case, or a glass car window, but not that friendly to a textured surface.

I haven't owned a Calton for 20 years or so. Looks like they have made lots of improvements!

Nice looking case(and mando);great customer service.
