Default recommendations on new tuners for 1920s Vega Fairbanks Banjo

I would like to put new tuners on my 1920s era Vega Fairbanks tenor I use for Irish trad. Existing ones worn and difficult to keep in tune. Any recommendations on tuners?

Check with Bob Smakula, he is a banjo expert and stocks many new and vintage tuner sets. If you have original friction style tuners you might consider some of the geared type. Bob can certainly make a good recommendation for your Vega.

Ditto Mark. Bob sells a modern small shaft tuner from ABM that is easier to fit to the old instruments than anything else on the market. They are not available anywhere else in the US. He also usually has vintage tuners in stock.
