Ron Oats makes a really nice e-mando! I'm not surprised that she's enjoying it!

5 tuners. Rono Baritone Electric Mandolin. Basically a 5 string Electric Octave Mandolin with a high B string a 5th above the E.
Here's a similar one on CL locally in Denver
    https://denver.craigslist.org/msg/d/...643932734.html
    $1800 used. New about $3000.

    Five tuners. It's a baritone, 19" scale.

I agree Roger! It does have 5 strings but IMHO any solid body with strings is a guitar. You can alter the number of strings and scale lengths to make it play "like" a mandolin but it will "never" sound like a mandolin or be a mandolin.

    Tis true!

Neato design....to my eye, like a gibson l5s or l6, a more voluptuos les paul shape, but thinner body.

Like ranch dressing, even on a paperback book or shoe leather, sierra could make any instrument sound tasty.

I haven't checked that one out, but I did play a similar one at Rapidgrass festival last month. Ron was at the festival in Idaho Springs and brought several models. They were all very sweet! But I do not have $2k+ to spend

I'm sure MrMando/EMando knows what he's talking about, since I'm pretty sure he's the one who sold it to her. Looks like besides Ron himself, emando.com has probably sold the most of these instruments.

Here's the same model that was sold for $3350, with an amazing top!

I didn't sell it to her; Ron gave it to her!

Ron sez he will have a couple more of them ready soon. No firm dates, though.

Very cool! I'm sure that will benefit them both immeasurably.
They are fantastic instruments! And you couldn't ask for a better ambassador for your mandolin!

If it’s tunes in fifths, I would not consider it a guitar.

There are more shades of meaning to the words "guitar" and "mandolin," Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Oh, dear...next thing we know she’ll be playing a 7 string guitar with too many humbuckers to count, dressed in all black with nail polish that glows under a black light, and screaming angry, angry music about angsty stuff. It’s a slippery slope...

All joking aside, that’s a very nice rig!

(And, don’t mean to offend anyone with my joking. If she did go heavy, I’d probably buy that/those albums as well. Been listening to some Korn, FFDP, and Kairos myself of late, and she can absolutely play whatever and dress however she chooses).

Good to see Hull graduating to five courses. Now she can move up to 10-string mandolin.

Well, I've heard her cover Prince and Tears for Fears ... can Metallica be far behind?

That would be very, very cool. Maybe she could talk Robert Trujillo into joining her for a shred fest or two
