Did anyone see the Gibson A3 with original case that sold recently on eBay for $15.00. It needed some repairs but still a great buy, hopefully someone here was the lucky buyer.

It is still on eBay's completed sales, stating it was indeed sold for $15 plus $15 shipping. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. There is close to $800-1000 in parts alone........even with a broken mandolin! It was incorrectly listed as a 1998 model with a Buy It Now of $15..........what usually happens in these cases is the seller comes to their senses, cancels the order, and relists it for the "correct" price.
how many other items did the seller have on sale?

The seller sells a whole lot of stuff and it doesn't appear to be the guy that hacks accounts. That's a pretty amazing mistake if it actually sold for that price. They have 400+ items for sale. They should be good enough to do a search.
I have a feeling this is a hobby business. They left the following feedback several times recently:
Very kind understanding person thank you for the positive feedback

Seller probably meant to type 1898 and missed a digit. I missed this one, would have been all over it. Backs can be reshaped and reglued, although it's expensive to have it done right.

The link takes me to a 1919 A3 at $2,899 BIN with $15 shipping.

I forgot, eBay does that now. If you try to follow a link to a completed auction, it'll shoot you to a live auction instead, with the message "The listing you’re looking for is no longer available. Check out this similar item we found for you."

It appears to have been a Buy It Now sale. Would anybody list a mandolin and case for such a low amount on ebay? It makes no sense to me unless the seller is just desperate to get rid of stuff. On that basis you may as well give it to a charity shop. Very odd.
Can I be that charity shop? Or maybe just the charity!

I am sure the seller meant to type in 1918 but hit the 9 twice. I cannot begin to think that anybody would list what was known to be a 1918 A3 Gibson mandolin as a $15 BIN. I am sure that the seller made a mistake with the listing and it was meant to be an auction that began at $15. Somebody got lucky but it is just possible this was cancelled when the mistake was noticed. I suppose some kind of ebay adjudication would follow- who knows?
I've purchased many Buy It Now's on eBay that were obvious mistakes AND the seller ALWAYS cancels the order and relists it.
All you have to do is ask the seller... ... it was Sold.. for the sum posted.. and its long gone.. everyonce and a while.. deals can be had.. you got to know where to look and when to hit it.. s for Ebay.. they do Not get involved in transactions unless there is a no show of a Instrument or a No payment filed.. other than that.. its a open deal..
and No it was Not me... wish it was..
I checked the seller's other items. It seems they have 458 items and they are all Buy It Now's. Buy It Now's are very addictive as a seller, but the beauty of an auction is that once in a great while the bidding does go crazy. A combination is probably the best strategy. No telling how much $$$ they have lost over the years.....IMHO.
So, the mandolin owner left his wife and ran off with his secretary.
He e-mailed the wife, "Sell the Gibson mandolin and send me the money."
So she did...
(In the original joke it was a $100 Ferrari -- but I mandolinized it.)
