Default Valuing a Daley Adam Steffey prototype model

Hello folks. I am trying to help a lady here in New Orleans value a Daley Mandolin that her late husband left behind. I know about how much these went for new, but I'm wondering if y'all could help us establish a reasonable selling price for this mandolin? I am attaching pictures here. It says it is a prototype Adam Steffey Model. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks.

You could do worse that contact the builder himself - Sim Daley :- daleymail@comcast.net He could at least give you the price at the time that he made it,& maybe a good indication as to it's current value.

It certainly looks like a very nice mandolin indeed,& as a ''prototype'',i'd expect it to be amongst the builder's best work - no use building a lousy prototype is there ?. On his website, the price quoted for a new Adam Steffey model,is $10,000 US :-

I've seen and strummed a few chords on the Sam Bush "Hoss" prototype that Sim built and ended up with Adam Steffey. It was certainly appropriately named "Hoss". If I remember correctly, it was re-sold for north of $10K.

Well, could be off-the-wall here, but...
    - ask 7,000-7,500
    - accept 6,000-6,500

As a '' One off'' prototype,it could be worth a tad more than a production model,of which there will be quite a few - it is a very striking design,

Wish I could help but I’m biased. I own two Daley mandolins. A Sitka topped Standard and a red spruce topped Classic. They have the satin finish which is not as durable and hence have lots of play wear. As I’ve progressed I’ve looked for ‘better’ mandolins. I’ve found some, indeed, but they are always far north of $10K. Red Diamond voiced mandolins, Gils, Hendersons, a Nugget. I’ve found their equal but they are always equal valued. Let’s just say I wouldn’t sell my Classic for less than $6500, though I doubt I could get it with the wear. And I’ll never get more than $4000 for the Standard, but I wouldn’t part with it for twice that.
For some reason, Daley’s never got on the radar as a fine mandolin. I get it. But these will be mine till I croak for the reason that I can’t justify spending more than $10K to get a slightly better mandolin.

The one at Elderly is a Gibson and they are seeking a value for a Sim Daley mandolin.

There are so many choices that it gets confusing, especially when they are the same artist.

Smitty, would love to talk with the seller, if the mandolin is up for sale. I just sold a Daley and have regretted it and would love to get one back
