    Default Speaking of picks

Lately I've enjoyed my JT Pix more than most others, they're thin but stiff with a fairly pointy tip. I've purchased a couple of the sampler packs after a buddy turned me on to a pack awhile back. Been using the #2 (1.2 mm, with a nice taper to a pretty sharp, thin, edge.

Getting the blues a bit now, though, with these. Lately I've noticed the edges on a few of them getting some rough ridges. This is after about a year of using them. The only thing I've done differently is to use them on a new guitar, so that might have caused the issue, I don't know, but I like these picks a lot, don't want to have to worry about swapping picks when swapping instruments, and don't want to spend time polishing picks.

It's down to either writing these off now, or considering them disposable

I guess at only a dollar a pop, I might adjust my ways to just stockpiling these things and disposing of any that wear to the point of bothering me.

I was digging the Red JT's for a long while. I'm going to have to start playing them again to see what I think now. I've gone all in on Bluechip as of late.

It's probably about time for the Blue Chip. I really liked that pick last time I tried the traveling pick sampler.

Mark, I’m planning on hitting up the local shop that sells those soon. Want me to get you any?

Every time I go, I’m told I just missed running into JT.

No disrespect, Chuck, but that's a bit subjective, isn't it? I already use two Wegens for a couple years, I also own TS (from the 70's), Primetone, Cool Picks, Claytons, Big Stubby, V-Pick Big Fattie, ProPlecs - and those are just the ones I keep on hand, others I've tried and didn't like, but I don't own a Blue Chip yet. I tried a couple Blue Chips for a couple weeks, and I do like the picks.

Anyway, like I say, no offense intended, but I like the JT's best right now. I mostly use the JT's and the Wegens right now. I like the sound and feel of JT's better for the most part than the Wegens, which are a darker tone and rounder tip, so I just happen to maybe disagree a bit that the Wegen is "better." I do know that the Wegens wear better, though, maybe that's what you meant.

Chris, appreciate that offer. I'm fine for now, but I think I'll order a bunch of the red #2's and blue #2's on down the line a bit. I still have several spares, I bought a couple packs after trying the ones you sent a couple years back. Thanks again.

These preferences can change over time. I know you like really thick picks, I don't, but I played around recently for a week or two with a Big Fattie someone gave me a while back. 5.85 mm. It feels really good, but I don't like the way it sounds.

The best pick, absolutely, is the one I like. Anyone else is just flat wrong.

Now if I could only decide.

Well … I have been using BC's since I tried them out about five maybe years ago. Tempus fugit. Anyway I tried casein and broke them. Wegan' didn't break and were OK but I didn't fall in love with the tone or the "feeling" of the pick. I haven't tried anything since I got on to BC's as I find them easy to hold I like their tone and I don't break them. So far each one I have misplaced has come back to me. So now I have enough to go around. I did have to get rid of the carpet in my music room though. It was a burgundy colored Persian copy. Whenever I dropped a pick I had to go get a flashlight and hunt the reflective surface on the pick. HA... R/
