Default 1 year, self taught - give me some feedback (audio clip)

First time through with a golden gate pick, second time through with a Fender 346 medium. Some flubs, just started working on this one yesterday.

1 year, self taught - trying to get feedback about the "pick" sound on strings, not the pick click, I can work that out later. Thanks!

Sound clip - click link (couldn't figure out how to put it here)

For one year I think that's great. I'd play around with some double stops on that tune, or some tremolo. Keep up the good work.

I like the sound of the first pick better. Smoother sounding. The Fender seems a bit harsh.

Very nice for 1 year. Keep it up.

Was just trying to play it along with fbbts.com....that...is fun! Not many players around here or at least I have found yet. That's a great resource.

I'd have to say I like the first pick better. Keep it up! Sounds great.

I am not one to criticize just useful critique ! For one year you are doing great ! It took me more years to play as well as you ! But, I didn't start until almost 64 years old ! Anyway, with that song I would slow it down ! Eventually, use tremolos on those longer notes. But, you are on the right path ! Congratulations !

I noticed when I found it on the backing track site that it was much slower, even after speeding it up 10%. Learning it the way I was playing it made it difficult to use the backing track but I started to slow it down and started to really enjoy the play along. Thanks for your feedback.

The tune is fine, but it suffers in several places from notes that are either too long or too short, or that are begun a tad too early or a tad too late. In other words, it breaks proper rhythm. You should try playing this tune against a metronome, or -- as someone else suggested -- with a backing track. That should iron our your rhythm issues fairly quickly, or, at the very least, make them more apparent to you. Keep on pickin'!

That was the third and fourth time I had ever played it......flubs are expected.

The backing track posts were posted by me.

I'd recommend practicing with a metronome to improve your timing, and add double stops & tremolo for this slow of a song. Are you happy with your tone? If not, mess around with right hand technique, picks, and pick location and really listen to your tone. Most beginners don't consider their tone, so if you start now, you'll be ahead of the curve.
