On a bridge with bent saddle posts, the saddle usually overhangs the base to a small degree with the base vertical - this one doesn't,& the base itself isn't vertical. You can draw a straight line from the top centre of the saddle down to the lower centre of the bridge foot. You can't do that on a 'bent' bridge. Also, the saddle posts are completely within the saddle,& the saddle base is flush with the bridge foot. The front part of the bridge foot is thinner, top to bottom, than the back part = = the posts aren't bent,

I agree with Ivan. Certainly seems the foot itself has been very badly profiled at the start.

I'd agee that the foot has been very heavily profiled but is it the same at both ends? We're looking at photo "3" to form that opinion but in photo "1" the southern end of the bridge foot looks straight. Could something be severely twisted?

From RayT. " Could something be severely twisted ? '' Something is surely wrong Ray - hence my previous request to remove it from the mandolin so that we could see the bridge in isolation. Looking end on in pic.3 - the bridge base seems to be pretty bizzare !,

Yes, both ends are the same. Look at the angle on the ends.

Thanks for all the help, at this point I will just order another bridge. It just seemed very strange, I have no idea what the manufacturers changed to the bridge. Even to a layperson, the left side of the bridge foot had much more wood removed than the right side.
