Hi folks,
my first mandolin is back in the fold!
Started playing mandolin around 6 years ago, and the one that I started on was a Kentucky KM162 - it's a discontinued A model, with solid hand graduated woods, and a pumpkin top. I kept it for a few months before moving on to an Eastman 505, which I kept for about 3 years.
Long story short, the Kentucky went to some relatives who live in North Wales. We went to visit them in their new home last weekend, and the Kentucky came back home with us! (The relatives know we took it!).
Is it a fantastic mandolin? No, but it has a sweet voice, decent volume and it plays well up and down the neck. Wish it had a radiussed board and slightly larger frets, but it'll make a great "campfire" mandolin, and it's really nice to have it back!
cheers
Johnny
