Default Mandolin-piano sonata by Bolaffi (Firenze, ca 1789-1798)

    Hi,

Once again my research into mandolin-related prints prior to 1850 turned up a little gem. I found a mandolin-piano sonata from Michele Bolaffi (Firenze, ca 1789-1798). It's actually quite a nice sonata from a well-educated composer, and quite rare to find a mandolin sonata from the 18th century with a complete keyboard part. (Usually 18th century mandolin sonatas are solo sonatas with a bass part - and there are many discussions about the way to perform the bass (with or without figuration, instruments, pitch of the bass line). See also my discovery of the Leone variations, where the bass part actually has plectrum signs.)

You can read the details about the piece and find links to the original at the library as well as urtext and modern editions available as downloads for free in my blog post.

Kind regards & have fun with it
    Pieter
