    What you are playing sounds good, but I am inclined to think you could progress faster if you had more regular feedback.

    Sometimes going to a regular jam session does the trick, because it provides you with repertoire and speed goals, and a standard to measure your progress against. For others, a good teacher is the key.

    This is not to suggest that you need to go faster—just what might help you if you want to go faster.

    I agree. I started a trucking company with my brother this last year and have been really busy. And barely home every few weeks for a day or 2. There is a local jam that meets on Thursdays at home but I have yet to attend because I haven't been home on a Thursday night yet.
    Right now I'm trying to maintain at least some practice every day. There was about 2 months last year I did not take the mandolin out of its case at all. Hopefully things will settle down enough that I can at least jam with others once in a while. Thanks for your help!
