    The seller says it may be a Clifford-Essex, but I don't think the pick guard looks like one of theirs.

    I haven't got a mandobass, and at 2000 euros I won't have one in a month's time either.

    I can't get rid of the attachment, but I think that is the Clifford-Essex mandobass that the seller is comparing his to.

    German, Czech and some Sicilian mandolins often have pickguards like that. Of course, it's possible that someone added a pickguard to a Clifford-Essex.
