That's a very fine looking mandolin, if you can post a sound clip I would love to hear it.

I am confused as to why you all think this is between an F and an A? Just because it has a point? To be between an. A and an F, it would have to have some kind of approximation of a scroll, at least a hook or something. Take a look at some of Dave Cohen’s C# models and you will see what I mean.
Not to take anything away from your mandolin, but it’s an A style that just happens to have 1 point.

I had a Woodley A that was designed to sound between an A and an F. It did just that and was a wonderful mandolin. Unique sound hole, tho different than the OP's. Tone bar braced, I get to see and play it now and then. Enjoy yours.

I still don’t buy that. There is no such thing as an F sound and an A sound. Two mandolins with identical design parameters and materials will have no discernible difference in ton attributable to scroll versus no scroll.
I don’t mean to be argumentative, truly. Just enjoy that instrumneny and call it whatever you like! A rose by any other name...

Im here to learn the ways of the knowledged from here and lesrn how to play these darn things.
Beautiful! What a unique mandolin. Would love to hear it.
I don't care what it's between though usually between your torso and hands works best!

I don’t consider it argumentative to present facts. Fact: it’s an A style with one point. It is what it is. There are instruments builders have called “C#” because they are between an A and an F but this one isn’t one of those. Fact: collective wisdom here, during the several years I’ve spent here, most agree the scroll does not contribute significantly to the sound of an instrument, therefore there is no “F” or “A” sound. I simply don’t see why there is any justification for saying this particular instrument is between an A and an F. It’s an A. Period. Yes. It has some interesting design elements, but nothing we haven’t seen before.
Now if want to talk about being between an f hole sound and an oval hole sound, then yes, that difference does exist.
You are correct, it doesn’t matter what I buy, all that matters are the facts. And that is what I’ve presented here.

Got it.
Oh, and slimt, did I forget to mention that I think it looks like a really nice ibstrument, too? And the rest of the collection in your signature sounds quite interesting, as well
I’m sure we’d all like to hear a sound clip when you get a chance.
