I really enjoy seeing something new and different. The Silverangel Fantasma and some of the Sorenson mandolins come to mind. The mandolin market has got to be one of the most conservative places around. Like to see something different now and then.

I like the looks of that a lot. With the sound hole where it is the player should be able to hear very well.

Even more amazing is how the sounhole/soundport is positioned on the edge of the top plus a decorative addendum.

I agree that it is great to see builders striking out on their own design paths, though I fail to see how it could possibly benefit from not having a soundhole on the top plate, facing the audience.

I tend to agree with Ron. The very first mandolin with a 'side port' that i ever saw,was one of Dale Ludewig's ''Emory Lester'' models, which featured standard "F" holes & a side port. The side port could actually be blanked off with the custom made insert,

It's a good price at $2500 CDN. Very lovely instrument. I'd like to hear it. I would also like to know about the construction. Is that a double top? I don't think so from pictures on the website.

I bought it. Its a cool piece and supporting makers of there fine craftsmanships makes them better builders in my opinion.
