Default For anyone looking for a wider neck

Gibson F9 with a wide fretboard and larger frets. For those that might be looking for one of these this one has popped up in the classifieds. NFI. Kind of reminiscent of the Wide board F5G's made a few years back. I've seen the older F5G's, I've never seen it on an F9. Is it uncommon or have I just missed them all these years?

I had a 2016(late year build) F9 with large frets, radius fretboard, and 1 5/32 nut width. Dennis at TheMandolinStore had it-supposedly the first of its kind with those specifics. I think he has started ordering F9's with those specs.

Mine was an excellent mandolin all around, very deep Gibson tone, easy to play, satin finish with a nice burst. Nice guy here on the forum purchased it after a year or so.

Yes, I believe the larger frets and wider neck are TMS custom orders...

I had to learn that the hard way. Good for you to see that before you lost a valued instrument.

Wide neck mandolins abound in the classifieds. Just look for a Gibson made between 1910 and 1921.
Here's one that has been refretted with larger modern wire:

I'm ok with larger fretwire;but, when I see "wide nut" or "wide neck"in a ,mandolin AD I skip it.
    It's not a guitar.

Thanks for the insight. Then again I suppose everyone does not always prefer the same things? For example, Sam Bush seems to like the wide nut mandolins and he does OK.
