Your back wood pictures look like they might have been dampened to reveal. That helps. I thought the one piece back on mine was interesting but with stain the grain pattern got really different from what I expected

I’m having Steve Hinde build it for me. I’m not sure where he gets it.

Pick the back that sounds the best and jumps out at you, not one that just looks pretty!

. Yep! That’s the plan! I decided to go with the one piece even though I don’t love the figuring as much

The thing is, “We” can suggest, offer, grumble, praise anything that comes across the screen; YOU will be living with it! Get what makes you excited, I didn’t say happy but, excited! If you are excited by the stock, finish, et al., you will be excited to PLAY it! The opinions voiced here have no bearing on the owners excitement of the commissioned piece!
That said, if I had the wherewithal? I’d take a bag of gold to my Luthier of note and say, “Here, build me one and there’s a bottle of something interesting to share when it’s done!” After that, I’m leaving it in his hands.
You are going to be so happy!!!!!!
    I’m jealous.

I still think that 648 could be astounding - looking at it again,it's like an enlarged quilt grain,i've not seen a piece of wood with that sort of grain before. Personally,i'd have to use it on some mandolin,
