    When I had a custom made mandolin made I paid the builder a little extra to build me a case, he did a beautiful job on it but it was way too heavy compared to a regular case so I trashed it after a bout 6 years...It looked a lot like the one in the video...

    1/'8" door skin ply, hard PS foam, plush lining,
    and all held together with a #10 coil zippered fabric cover ,

    was what the builder & GF made for / with my walnut /spruce Mandola..

    Light weight.. Its been quite adequate.

    Reminds me of the case I made decades ago for my bass dulcimer. Main difference is the handle - I used one of these:

    Thanks for all the comments folks. I just wanted to use up a bunch of scraps that many would have discarded to make a case.
