    I bought a Calace bowlback from a guy in Australia; it was shipped in an old case that was stuffed into two cardboard boxes joined together by duct tape.

    I still can't believe it arrived, much less intact.

    That isn't one of the big-bucks carved models, so don't expect it to go too much higher.

    Could be a nice sounding one similar to Martin style A bent-top mandolins.

    I was a bit puzzled by your comment, Mick, but then I realized that the link in the original post goes to a Lyra all-birch cheapie.
