Hey, that sounded great. Thanks for posting it. It had a nice easy flow to it and very well played. Right there in the shopping center with people standing and enjoying Grandfather's Clock. Would love to visit Thailand sometime and listen, maybe even pick a couple tunes with you all.

Here is the YouTube link Ping sent me, now embedded. I've known Ping and his son Changching for a few years. Changching is 14 now, and started learning from his Dad when he was 9. Now he has outgrown his teacher, and a shortage of mandolin instructors in Thailand means he now learns from a respected violinist. He's making great progress the hard way - with endless practice. He crosses genres effortlessly and is particularly proficient at classical music. Good mandolins are difficult to get in Thailand, so his Dad imported the TKD F5 from Florida.

    Cool!

I also like the acoustic bass guitar, visible starting at 0:35.

Is that a helicopter parked on the pavement in the background?

This is WONDERFUL!! Introduction of different type of music than what is “the norm” to the people around them.
So great that these younger ones are having an early start playing their instruments, and doing so together.
    Just beautiful!

Here's a photo Ping's friend put up on Facebook. It certainly is a helicopter. No idea what the event was, though it took place in Sri Nakhon, just across the Chao Phraya river from Bangkok.

Thanks for the info, that setting certainly makes a very intriguing backdrop for the music.

Amazingly enough, there is a pretty vibrant BG community here in Thailand. Especially Bangkok. These guys jam often at the Train Market in Srinakarin.

That young man is amazing. I've seen him play a few times.

If you come to Thailand, let me know!
