Unfortunately it is the nature of "those people" that it was stolen, not because of it's quality or value, but merely because it was available.

It is in the classified under stolen instruments. It was stolen on a college campus way upstate.

I have probably owned somewhere in the neighborhood of 250-300 instruments over the years - and, thank the Good Lord, I have never had one stolen. I can't begin to imagine what it would feel like to lose something that nice.

Hopefully the generous reward will be enough to get someone to rat out the jerk who stole it.

Even in this rather small community, if someone in Idaho or Austin showed up with a sunburst Ellis, would anyone question it? Good reason to have them build yours with a blood red burst, or lime metalflake. Still, hope it gets back to it's owner.

Received an email from the owner of the mandolin just now and good news: the mandolin has been recovered. He'd placed an ad in the Classifieds but has now removed it. No details on how it surfaced.
