Default do it yourself headstock decal

I watched the attached youtube video on diy headstock decal. I tried it tonight on my recently completed electric octave mandolin made from a half size guitar. It went well just as in the video. You need to use a laser jet printer not an inkjet.

This is a really great trick. Laser toner can also be transferred with acetone, so you won't be left with the water slide material.

We used to use it all the time for making mockups of product box graphics without having to go to the printer for sample runs.

I scanned this inlay (from Mike Nichol) that will be installed in my mando build. I just wish I had a pearl inlay Homer Simpson likeness to accompany it.

Isn't an inkjet printer OK as long as you let the ink dry?

Contact Dave Nichols at www.custompearlinlay.com and see if he will cut the homer pearl for you.

Inkjet ink is water based and wouldn't work when you soak it. Not a problem with the laser jet.

Doh! it was Dave Nichols (not Mike Nichol) who made my pearl inlay. I'm sure he could make a Homer for me.
