Has anyone heard how Peter Ostroushko is doing? A short while ago it sounded like he was making progress -- albeit slow. The mandolin world seems to move a little slower with him on the sidelines.

This was the most recent update (5/17) from his Go Fund Me campaign,
"Peter continues to make slow but steady progress. As you can imagine, his desire to regain as much independence as he can is very strong. His spirits are good. "
I don't know if you'd heard something since then. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of details. Maybe someone else has something more to add.
Peter's Go Fund Me campaign had a goal of $40k, and it has brought in more than $67k. I haven't heard anything new about his recovery progress.
Sorry to say I know little of Mr. Ostroushko, except his name. And that he played on one of the all time great albums, Blood on The Tracks. All the best and a return to health
I heard Peter Ostroushko many times on the Prairie Home Companion Show with Garrison Keillor on NPR many times through past years. He is a premier mandolinist. I hope and pray that he can recover again.

One of my favorite mandolinists. I was fortunate to attend a weekend mandolin camp that he taught back in the 90s. A nice guy and really versatile. I hope and pray for a full and speedy recovery.

This has received some heavy rotation at work over the years, particularly the first two discs.
Two of my three children have autism. My daughter especially had a very difficult time sleeping at night. She wanted to sleep but just couldn't. It was very frustrating for her. This tune was one of the few things that would calm her down. We listened to it, sometimes, for 6 hours straight.
I guess you never know how music might reach other people but Peter's tune was so important for a young kid struggling with something really big.

Pete is the man - I recently found Norman Blake's Nashville Blues LP on line(long out of print), Pete's pickin on that record can't be beat, saw him in Schenectady a few years back, he was sick but flew all the way from Minnesota to keep his commitment. One time (many years ago) at the Old Songs Festival in Altamont NY, I remember it was hot and muggy and Pete was supposed to share a stage with Mick Maloney, well here comes Mick, lugging his guitar, banjo and mando, soaked in sweat huffin and puffin, and up the roadway comes Ostroushko being chauffeured in a golf cart, as cool as Ukrainian cucumber. He even borrowed Mick's guitar cause he only brought his mandolin.
10 out of 10 for style.
There will be a benefit concert for Peter next month in Minneapolis: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-ost...ts-46455571866
Haven't heard anything other than the updates folks have mentioned. Also wasn't aware of the fund raiser. Unfortunately will have to miss it. Only played with Peter once. He's an incredible player and just as nice of a person.
