    Default New/old tool

    Just picked this up Monday. Supposed to be 1950's. Only an eight inch blade but really smooth and no play. It'll be nice not having to run down the road to my Dad's to slot finger boards.Click image for larger version.

    That is a nice saw. I used to have (long ago) a small Atlas saw just like that.

    Surprised it won’t take a 10” blade.

    Cool!
    Most of my Unisaw is from the 50 (I've swapped some parts). 1958, IIRC. It has a similar patina!

    When you compare that solid base and table to the flimsy bent sheet of today's machinery....
    Even the bearings will be likely more serviceable now after 50 years of use than new bearings of the cheap machines.
