Hey There,
I'm traveling to Ithaca in a couple of weeks for business.
Any good music stores I should check out? Is there a great place to catch live music?
Thanks,
Kirk

Ithaca is a great town! Great restaurants, brew pubs, scenery, etc.
Ithaca Guitar Works is a great store, right on the commons downtown. I have not been there in a few years, but they had a pretty good selection of import mandolins, a couple of Weber’s, and some Gibson paddle head oval holes last time I was there.
Have fun!

Ithaca Guitar Works for acoustic instruments. Lotsa stuff on their website, including Eastman, Weber, Gold Tone mandolins, Deering banjos, etc.
Here's an Undiscovered Music Network directory to acoustic music in the area. And this Ithaca Music Scene links you to some local band websites. Ithaca Festival of the Arts is this weekend, but I gather you won't be there yet.
Always lots of good music around Ithaca.

Keep your eyes and ears open for the Burns Sisters - a trio of modern folk musicians based in Ithaca. One of them plays mandolin sometimes. Haven't seen them in years but they are still active. And excellent.

Awesome! Thanks for all of the suggestions!
Great idea - I'm (mostly) vegetarian and have had one of their cookbooks for years. I'll have to swing by there for lunch and then browse thru the instruments...hope I don't bring home anything!the Moosewood Restaurant is right by Ithaca Guitar Works...not to be missed.

Hey Jim -
Those are amazing looking instruments! I'm pretty set with my current crop of mandolins (including that snakehead Ajr I got from you...) and my guitar playing is simply not worthy.Eric Aceto is a longtime builder in Trumansburg, near Ithaca. Ithaca Stringed Instruments
But wow...beautiful stuff!
