That's what our jam sessions sound like ! NOT !
When I used to do a lot of festivals and picked in the field or parking areas I always liked for only one of each instrument, not to take away the fun of everyone having a good time but if there are 10 people in the circle and all are allowed to rake a break we would be playing the same song for 15-20 minutes....I do understand that it is a thrill for most pickers to be able to stand side by side with a super star and do their thing and maybe hope to get discovered, it has happened to quite a few pickers at festivals...Some of the best "true bluegrass" is at those jams out in the field...BUT also I have seen a few youngsters that all they want to do is try and out pick each other and "blow" the other guy away...No fun there....
Thanks for the post, it is a good`un

I've been playing that tune since i heard him play it on his ''Soldier of The Cross'' DVD a few years back. It sounds fast & maybe a tad tricky, but it isn't. Ricky's playing it a tad slower there than he recorded it,giving him time to dig in & improvise on it - nice !!.
It's also on his ''Bluegrass Rules'' CD,played slightly faster. If you want something really 'blistering',listen to Herschel Sizemore's verion of 'Grey Eagle'' - it's a knuckle buster for sure !!,
