Thread: Rigel tailpiece again

  1. #1

    Default Rigel tailpiece again

I posted earlier about possibly modifying my broken tailpiece and didn’t get any response. If anyone has a Rigel that has the holes instead of the pins and could do a rubbing on a piece of tracing paper showing the placement and size of the holes such a thing could help me out and would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, if anyone has a lead on how I might get a replacement that would be wonderful. I love this mandolin and currently have the G strings doubled up on one pin, but the thought of another pin failure in the middle of a gig makes me wake up in a cold sweat!

Try placing an ad in the classified's looking for an original. You never know what might pop up.

Thanks, I will. I wonder why I didn’t think of that!

I just found this old thread. There are quite a few about this problem.

I hadn't played my G110 for a couple of years, opened up the case and surprise - one of the G string hooks had broken. I emailed Gold Tone and bought a couple of "B" stock replacements for a very reasonable (I thought) price. I think I might try to modify the original to the newer hook design - seems it should be possible if a little tedious.
