Default If you keep going back, it's BOUND to happen!

I wish, oh, how I wish, I had never gone to the Mando Shop's website a few weeks ago and saw the amber Northfield F5S with the solid back.

Then I wish that I had not kept going back, almost on a daily basis, to drool over this mandolin time and time again.

Then I wish I had not whipped out my CC a couple of hours ago and ordered this mandolin; the last mandolin I will ever buy!

Oh, hell...who am I kidding. I DID IT AND i'M GLAD!!! It will arrive in a few days!

You know, so as not to break tradition, I think I'll call my ex-wife and tell her what I've done just so she can scream at me. Large purchases just aren't as much fun without all the angst and drama.

So you really think that's your last mandolin? Ha ha. Sorry dude. You're hooked. MAS is incurable.

You know, Roger, I promise my intent is to not be maudlin but I don't mind sharing this with you cats: I feel fine today but I've got some significant health issues that will. most likely, impact my longevity. I'm not complaining and, quite frankly, this was the motivator to go ahead and pull the trigger now. Do you see what I did there...I can now rationalize this mandolin purchase as "therapeutic". You have to admit, that's pretty slick!

    Maybe even tax deductible?

I dig the way you think! We keep this up and, by the end of the day, I'll upgrade to a Fern!

Never mind tax deduction, I think your health insurance should pay for this mandolin.

There's an extra lonesome refrain that Dwight Yoakam sang: "Things have gotten better since I started drinkin' again." i wonder why this came to mind when reading this thread.

That's the beauty of an employer funded HSA . . . they help contribute to your next mandolin!

The Northfield F5S has arrived and I was able to spend a few minutes with it during lunch.

    First impressions:

    - The finish is quite a bit darker than I expected. I was fooled by the Mando Shop pictures that use some very bright lights to bring out the flame and grain. As to color, think more of a "butterscotch".
    - It rings (reminds of a great guitar), sustains and projects like no mandolin I've ever owned so, this equates to a big upgrade. It's loud and the bottom is big so...touchdown!
    -The setup is truly excellent.
-As indicated, the case is freaking serious!

More to follow after I spend more time with it.

I did something similar. While undergoing chemo/radiation treatments for tonsillor cancer I pulled the trigger on a used Gibson Mandolin Store Custom F5G.

Apparently it worked. I’m much better and still playing. Sometimes you just deserve to treat yourself.

But I passed on calling the ex.

Holy hell! I had no idea that mandolin purchases that are out of one's budget could cure major diseases! We know it works for tonsillor cancer. Now let's see what the positive impact is on congestive heart failure!

    I'm stoked!!

So, the truth is is that divorce sucks in almost every, single way. But, I can absolutely guarantee that it will completely eliminate the unsavory marital dynamic that is connected with large purchases.

So, I've got that going for me...
