Default Riffstation App is now FREE

Fender bought the company that owns Riffstation and has made the $35 app download free. I have never used it but it is supposed to be able to figure out the chords to songs for you. Also it will slow down sections so you can learn parts. It can shift/transpose pitches and isolate parts too. Sounds like it is worth a look. I have just downloaded it.

Anybody use this app? Anybody have any hints or tips?

I downloaded it back in 2016 and never got any response to the sign-up. I figured if they couldn’t make that work then there wasn’t much hope of the rest of the app being much more than a frustration.

Good timing on this - I'm trying to figure out chords to a song, and Transcribe! isn't working for me. Let's see how Riffstation is.

I use Capo for this. It’s not free, but it’s extremely well designed and very well supported. I also just discovered an app called AudioStretch (might have read about it right here at the cafe... I forget) that lets you slow down and loop video or audio. I downloaded it and it works great. I wanted to have it for an upcoming concertina workshop so I can video the instructor’s playing and then slow it down for practice and learning. (NFI on either of these applications.)

My first look. Chord thing does not work great but the slow down thing and the pitch change work very easily.

30 day trial. I had about a dozen songs on my playlist on the old Riffstation, but now they are gone.

First song I tried on it had wrong chords. Riffstation could not tell a G major from a B minor in the song, "8:05" by Moby Grape. Might be useful, but not too confidence-inspiring at this point.

I have it and use it occasionally, it’s not perfect but it’s pretty helpful...free a is nice price for it.

Not a trial. Totally free. Sorry about your play list.
