    Default Down By The River

    I lost my Bluechip...almost.

While waiting out an oil change and picking along side the Blue River, I fumbled my pick. It glanced off the side of my knee, flew forward, bounced off a river rock, and landed vertically in some well placed mud inches from the water. Uncertain whether I would have jumped in after the pick, possibly soaking myself and mandolin, I said, "Thank you mud."

Good fortune today! I hope the same for y'all.

Good one, Brian! Years ago, our then puppy Molly, escaped from the fenced back yard to go back and hang out with the neighbor's dogs. They have a swimming pool and when my wife and I approached her, she kept backing up right into their pool. Well, I was prepared to jump in "clothes and all" to get her, but to our surprise she already knew how to swim. Yep, there is a reason they call it the "dog paddle!"

"Down By The River" has already been written, but you could substitute some lyrics, like: Down by the River, I lost my Pick...

Yes but not this version. I went with "I lost my blue chip"

I was going to call this one "pick in the mud" anyway. Thanks sblock!

Some years ago I was playing on a stage and dropped my favorite pick and it fell right between the boards, I could see it laying down there about 2 feet down and tried to put some chewing gum on a stick but that pick would not stick to the gum so I lost a good friend that day, No it wasn`t a blue chip, I have never owned one or have I seen one that really turns me on, I use the Prime Tones now days...

    From Trav'linmando - " Don't forget Mama ! ". And the old dog & the cheatin' wife !.

Back in '92,me & Andy,my work's buddy who i was over in the US with, visited Mammoth Caves National Park.On the Sat.morning,we took a hike down the trail to the Green River. Andy went one way along the bank,i went the other. A few yards along the bank,i slipped on some really slick mud, fell on my a** & slid down the river bank !. If it hadn't been for a tree growing in the bank,i'd have gone it. Cutting a long story short,i got back to the hotel, changed & we went down to the Green River ferry point. I shoted to the ferry guy & asked him how deep it was - he said only about 4 feet deep. I told him that i'd nearly fallen in - he shouted back ''So you're the guy''. Andy had got back to the hotel, told them what had happened & they'd radio'd down to the ferry guy to tell him to be on the lookout for somebody floating down the river !!. When i got home,i'd got a half pound of Green River mud on my jeans & shirt which i'd put in a plastic bag. So ''Down by the river'' means something a tad different to me,
