Default 1998 Silverangel here in classifieds

First. No Financial Interest at all. I live in Maryland and the seller is in Kentucky. In fact, I just spoke to the guy about some of the particulars. I was very interested. Let's just say, my wife was not similarly interested.
It is in great shape from the pics he sent me and the price is excellent, I believe, at $1750.00. Only two owners. For anyone in the market for a USA made F-style, I think it's a steal. #69 according to the seller. Let my misfortune be your gain.

I've got a sweet solution to your problem.
I'll buy your Northfield for $2000 and you can buy the Silverangel and use the leftover $250 to spend on your wife. Sounds like a win-win-win to me!

Just out of curiosity - how many Cafe members have spouses that ARE similarly interested or supportive of such actions?

You mean, as in something, along these lines? "Honey, I think it would be a great idea for you to purchase another mandolin."
Truthfully, when I started playing again, less than 3 years ago, (23 year hiatus) much to my surprise, she suggested I purchase a "backup mandolin," or a "Beater" as it were. She now knows it was the biggest mistake she's ever made. Outside of marrying me, of course.

When I bought my first mandolin ((1977?), my wife bought a nice coffeetable. The mandolin is now retired, the coffeetable is still in use. Every instrument meant more furniture, and vice-versa. At some point, the instrument/furniture purchases became instrument/horse purchases. Then the horses started reproducing, much to my disadvantage!

I'd completely forgotten about the horses. Thanks! I've got 3 mandolins coming. I won't bet on it though.

Well, I'm no longer married. I'm not going to point the finger directly at MAS, but it may have been a contributing factor.

Keep in mind -- my wife has only been my wife for 6 weeks. But she's dangerously supportive of my MAS; in fact, I talk myself off the ledge far more often than she does.

Speaking of coffee tables, it probably helps that I'm currently making her a slab coffee table. I also built her an outdoor bench and drink table, as well as a ukulele. I'm also building, rather than buying, my own next mandolin.

Better to give than to receive, right?

My wife is wonderfully tolerant of my instrument "habit" as long as I don't impact our budget substantially. Alternatively, she pretty much gets what she wants in the way of furniture, remodels, shoes (which far outnumber my instruments ), trips, etc. We make a pretty good team.

Actually, I'm entering a phase where I'm moving to "fewer but better" instruments. I suspect we'll be downsizing when the kids are out of college in a few years, and figure I may as well begin to think in that vein. Also, these things were made to be played, and though I do play all of them from time to time, there are a few that get precious little music made on them. I haven't released any just yet, but think I'm fixing to turn 3 or 4 of them into a nice small bodied guitar (as my mandolin needs are solidly met at the moment).

I really like my SA, as I've proclaimed many times, and agree that, assuming not a lot of fret wear, this is about as good a price as you'll find on a legit US made F-Style.

If I did sell the Northfield it would be for a little more than 2 grand.

I'm just kidding around. But if you do decide you need a quick $2000 for it, I'm your guy!
