Thread: Sam Bush Band at Merlefest

Default Sam Bush Band at Merlefest

My wife and duo partner Susie and I were lucky enough to be at Merlefest this year on Saturday, and saw all kinds of amazing stuff, including my first time hearing Sam's latest band. Saturday night, perfect weather, full moon coming up through the trees! There was some serious howling along when he sang Howlin' at the Moon. Isn't it great to see one of your heroes just kill it? Anybody know if that setlist would be posted anywhere?

It doesn't look like the Merlefest set has been uploaded (yet), but there's lots of live Sam Bush shows, including some very recent shows, here:

The Telluride shows are always amazing, but Sam brings it every night.

Sam was at a local outdoor concert six or seven years ago. It was a free show so I went a couple hours early to set up chairs to have room. A few guys were on stage messing around. I looked a little closer and it was Sam and the band. They started tuning and setting up mics then picking a little bit. Then launched into playing. They did about a fifteen or twenty minute mini set. They played just as hard and enthusiastically for the half a dozen or so people hanging around as at Merlefest for 50 thousand.

They stopped allowing open taping at Merlefest more than 15 years ago. Not to say that acts don't get recorded there anymore, but they are less likely to and then even less likely to end up on LMA. Telluride is still open taping.
