We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams
Roger, I'm from Richmond, just down the road a piece from C'Ville...of course, David Lowery is also from Richmond. I love Cracker and I have always loved that tune. The Mando player has his instrument hanging low kinda like Jimmy Page wore his Les Paul.
And speaking of Lowery, "Pictures of Matchstick Men" refers to the paintings of English artist, J.S. Lowry:

There's another song about Lowry and his paintings, but without mandolin (if the link doesn't work, look up "Matchstalk Men & Matchstalk Cats & Dogson YouTube).
Robert Johnson's mother, describing blues musicians:
"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."
Lomax, Alan, The Land where The Blues Began, NY: Pantheon, 1993, p.14.
Thanks Ranald....that took me down a nice rabbit hole looking into Lowry.
I like when people mess around like that and do interesting covers...
Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?
