    Question Recording King REsonator Mandolin

Does anyone have a clue how to change stings on this beast. It seems almost impossible.

The Recording King has little pegs on the tailpiece, one for each string.

Ding one string at a time, you'll remove a string, then feed the new string from the tailpiece side, though and under the piece covering the bridge, and towards the headstock. You'll then push the loop at the string end onto the peg on the tailpiece, and pull on the end at the headstock.

(At this point, it's helpful, if you have some, to push a piece of tubing over that tailpiece peg to keep that string's loop from coming off. I use a three-inch piece I bought at a fish aquarium store.)

Make sure the string is in the correct bridge slot, and is not running under or around other strings between the tailpiece and headstock.

Wrap string around tuner peg and tighten by your preferred method. Clip excess.

There are videos about most of this (restring resonator, how to wrap string on tuner, etc.), but the short tubing thing is the one helpful item I haven't seen suggested.

    Good luck!

You can pull the string through from the tailpiece and clamp it with a capo on the neck to allow you to thread it into a tuner post or get yourself a small rare earth magnet (available at craft stores) to hold the sting in place on the tailpiece while you string it through, all of this assuming that is the issue you are having.
