Some guy named Greg from Pennsylvania won it. I'm crushed. No Pava for me. I guess I'll just have to find some way to carry on...

To all who didn’t win: (including myself), the good news is: More awareness of the Pava mandolin. Well deserved, an awesome instrument!

I fell short too, obviously. Yes, I did gain insight and growing interest in the Pava line. Hey Tomando-- only 50 miles away! What is that beautiful blonde top F5 in your avatar?

I heard my old Pava at a jam recently and couldn't believe I let it go. That contest one was a beauty. Congrats to the winner

Hi Folks and thank you for the congratulations sent my way. Yes, I’m Greg D from Pennsylvania. I’m actually just a tad north of Pittsburgh. Although I don’t post much I’ve been a member here since 2011 when I started to get serious about the mandolin. I played a little in the late 70s on a beautiful Alvarez F5 copy with the tree of life inlay on the fretboard. This morning I was looking over the classifieds and forum as I usually do several times each day. I’ve wanted to pick up another mandolin but as I was telling Scott with 2 sons currently in college and me being on a medical disability since September with a couple more months to go it just didn’t seem to be possible. Then I opened my email and saw Scott’s note to me. The subject said “You’re the winner of the Pava mandolin giveaway”. Well, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Is this a late April Fool joke? I read the whole thing a couple times before it finally sunk in. I am the winner of this beautiful Pava Pro mandolin. Later I also received email from a rep at Pava. This is all so exciting. Like a lot of you I’ve never won anything except for a Halloween contest as a child when my mother dressed me as a mermaid and made my father pull me around the school ground on a red wagon. Anyway, once the mandolin is delivered I’ll post a pic and maybe a sound byte for you to hear. It’ll be attached to a much shorter note. Promise. I’d like to thank Scott and the Mandolin Cafe as well as Pava Mandolins for making this beauty available to us. This one will become a family heirloom for my sons to play and cherish for many years. Thanks again to all for your good wishes.
    Greg D from Pennsylvania

Hi, Iflingpicker! That’s my first mando after joining a folk/bluegrass band 6 years ago. A Colling MF glosstop “honey amber”. I put a K&K in it for our gigs. Just recently added a DPA 4099 to it, running 2 channels thru a Grace Felix. Sweet…! Hey, come to Long Beach and visit sometime!
