    Default Travelite to Australia

    Hi fellow mandolites,

Amazon has the Travelite TL 45 Mando case at a reasonable price the only killer is the postage to my country about the same price as the case.Is it worth it importing this Mandolin case from Amazon? The specs spell out formidable build design including the hygrometer .Or should one find another retailer or for that matter another equally impressive design bag that won't break the bank.Help from across the Ocean.

I love my Travelite case but I'm not sure it would be worth twice the price.

No dealer outlets in OZ to avoid exuberant postage.

I have one, the hygrometer is useless. Look for something else.

I would say in most cases with cases , unless you just WANT a fancy case or if you have an exceptionally valuable instrument, then the good old guardian case is perfectly sufficient, and there are likely dealers that have these in country... just a thought.

You can get similar, Chinese made cases in Australia. Styrene foam with a nylon cover. Any music store should be able to get them. I use V-case brand for mandolins and ukuleles. Around $75 each. I would not walk on them or put in an aircraft hold but for general carrying around in the back of a car they are fine.

    Cheers

+1 on the useless hygrometer. The case it a good one for the price, but not double.

Yes, my hygrometer stays at 62% regardless of the actual relative humidity. I like the case, but not for twice the price. If I were buying for > $150, I’d look at the new Northfield cases...

I like the case too(for the price - a few years ago - $55 - delivered to my door). The hygrometer looks like it might have cost 25 cents, but the one I got is substantially more accurate than the $10 digital one I bought. (Measured against dual thermometers/wet bulb-dry bulb test). It also largely agrees with the two dehumidifiers I run. I wouldn't pay extra for it, but it might work.

Both Gator and Travelite from my research are not available here.To import either one
will incurr twice the cost of the instrument either thru Amazon or Elderly.Do not know why shiping is exactly the same as cost of instrument with these outlets but Amazon states shiping and import fees.Any for sale here in classified that would reduce these costs?
