Default Anybody have any experience with a Janish A5 mandolin?

I have the opportunity to purchase one of these however I am a little timid. I have had my mind set on getting the flatiron A mandolin. However this seems like a great mando. Has anybody had any experience with the Janish A5?
I’m not able to play it prior to buying so it leaves me a little worried.

Ask for a 48 hour right to return period. I wouldn't sell or purchase an instrument without this option.

They have been discussed here with good impressions. If you do a search you should find some info.

I've read a few threads here but was looking for a little more info. From what I've read they are great mandos.
    Just curious about the tone.

My experience is that mandolins have there own individual tone and can vary greatly from one instrument to another of the same model and vintage. I found this applies to most builders with Gibson coming to mind first. My experience has shown Collings to offer the most consistant tone among models but still maintain a variance between instruments. Play it extensively for 48 hours and see if it speaks to you.

Czech instruments are generally a great value. Janish is a respected Czech luthier who is (mainly) known for building banjos.

    I´d say go for it.

The one on Reverb is gone, did you get it? Looked like a good buy.

I have a Janish F5. Very good mandolin. But like Pittsburgh Bill says, get a right to return it after trying at home. Most music shops do this as a standard policy. Most sellers on the Cafe also do this.
