Re: Should I buy a new mandolin?
Thankfully there is no test required to upgrade your mandolin. I've seen beginners buy a $4k mandolin, especially ones that play other instruments. If one's ears are used to Martin or Collings quality, it's hard to buy a cheaper mandolin. It was that way for me. I've stated many times my belief that a fine instrument is the best path to sucess. When you invest in yourself, you naturally don't want to let yourself down, and when your mandolin is a work of art as well as a tool, you want to look at it. When you look at it, you want to play it. Do that and you get better.
