Default Ribbons of the Redheaded Girl

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know anything about the reel The Ribbons of the Redheaded Girl?

I learned off Dave Swarbrick's Smiddyburn ages ago, but I know nothing about it, even though I've recorded it!

It sounds Scottish to my ears, but that's hardly definitive.

I'd really like to know where it came from, who composed it (if known), any collection it might appear in, alternative titles ... anything!

    Cheers,
    Gordon

Don't know the tune, Gordon, but the name of the reel is splendid.

It shows up at the Session site.

A tune worth getting after. Thanks for the tip!

    Hi Mick,

Yes, if you're talking about the tune DS plays (second on in the set, on mandolin).

The other one, not so much.

Ah, thanks, Gordon. Got it. "The Ribbons of..." vs. "Ribbons for....."
    Lucky girls.
