Hello everyone,

Do you play mandolin, mandola, mandocello, guitar or mandobass (or string bass)? The Baltimore Mandolin Orchestra always welcomes new players, and we are currently looking to enlarge our group. We have some instruments to loan out. If you’d like to learn how to play one of these instruments, we can offer lessons too.

One important prerequisite is the ability to read music. The first and second mandolin parts and the guitar parts are in treble clef. Mandola plays treble clef too, rather than alto clef. And mandocello and mandobass both play bass clef. We can make arrangements to transpose the music if necessary.

The music we play is an eclectic mix of short classical pieces, rags, marches, concert dance tunes, Italian romantic pieces, show tunes, pop tunes, etc. We perform about a dozen concerts a year between September and May.

You’re welcome to come to a rehearsal and check us out. We rehearse Wednesday evenings, 8:00-9:30 p.m. at Pickersgill Retirement Community, 615 Chestnut Ave., in Towson.

If you think you’d like to join us, and/or if you have any questions, please contact us via the BMO website at www.baltimoremandolinorchestra.org and click on “Contact us.” Thanks, and let’s see what we can work out.
