What do you think of this headstock logo?
If the bridge is original, this can't be a '27. Wasn't the four-thumbwheel bridge a short-lived experiment around 1921 or '22?

The logo does look a tad strange to me but I'm no expert like Mike.
Logo looks wrong. Don't know about the thumbwheels but the would tuners put it pre-1924/5.
"Original coating"? Didn't they use a buttercream glaze in '27?

That is a clever way to deal with exposed bridge posts!

The logo looks similar to my '22, a little sloppier, but similar. It also has the stainless steel truss rod cover. That is a '22 feature. I would say it is a '22. The extra thumb wheels could have been put on anytime.

Maybe it's just the photos, (or maybe I'm just crazy) - but that whole head stock looks a little suspicious to me . . . somehow it looks 'newer' than the rest of the mandolin, like it was messed with at some point.
It wouldn't surprise me if it was legit, but being a fake wouldn't surprise me either . . .
Looks like business as unusual a la Gibson. I believe this is a total "closet queen". Price is way outta hand though...

Ray is right. The tuners are from the early '20's at the latest. The bridge saddle does not look like '20's Gibson issue to me unless it has been messed with.
No, it is not a fake, it is a '20's A-2, probably early '20's rather than late '20's. I have some questions about whether it has had some finish work, but the pictures are not clear enough or light enough for me to say anything for sure.
I didn’t look either! Haha
